Prayer Profile:
Christianity first appeared in France in the 2nd century and became so firmly established by the 5th century that St. Jerome wrote that Gaul was the only region “free from heresy.”
France has been a major power for many centuries with strong economic, cultural, military and political influence. They colonized places like North America, portions of North, West and Central Africa, Southeast Asia, and many Pacific islands.
France has a population of 65 million people and is the most visited country in the world. (Each year, over 82 million tourists visit sites such as the Eiffel Tower.)
The Gospel is still largely unknown in this nation where evangelicals are a minority and renewal in the Catholic church is not widespread. Islam has become the second-largest religion after Catholicism. Official secularism masks a great spiritual hunger as many people turn to mediums and occult practices in their search for hope and meaning in their lives.
Redemptive Purpose: "The kingdom of France is predestined by God to defend the Church of Christ our Lord. This kingdom will be great among all the kingdoms of the earth. In as much as it is loyal to its calling, it will be victorious. If it proves unfaithful in this, it will be punished harshly. Nevertheless, it will remain until the end of time." - St. Remi at King Clovis’ baptism in 498

Going Before the Father: As Zechariah states, pray that it would not be “by might nor by power, but by the LORD Almighty and his Spirit” that the French people would turn their lives over to Him, that they would receive Him and follow Him.
Praise and declare with the church in France that God reigns. He has all authority and is worthy of worship and our whole lives. Pray that the church will unite in Him.
France for years has had a place in global leadership through its colonies, wealth, pop culture and even now in its tourism. This influence still can be felt, but it is declining. Pray that God would bring France back to Himself and, as St. Remi prophesied, that France would be a defender of the things of Christ and His Kingdom.
