Prayer Profile:
Recorded history in Tunisia begins with the arrival of the Phoenicians who founded Carthage. Carthage was captured by the Romans in 146 B.C. Tunisia was later occupied by the Vandals followed by the Byzantines.
The Muslim conquest of North Africa in the 7th century was launched from Tunisia. Tunisia became a center of Arab culture and learning and was later assimilated into the Turkish Ottoman Empire.
Tunisia became a republic in 1957 with Habib Bourguiba, who led the inde-pendence movement, becoming the first President. He was replaced in November 1987 by the then Prime Minister, Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, who is still in power.
Islam is the constitutionally recognized state religion. The country’s Muslims are overwhelmingly Sunni, with a small community of Sufis. There are about 1,500 Jews in Tunisia, making it the nation’s second-largest indigenous religion.
Redemptive Purpose: From the Islamic city of Kairouan (Tunisia), Muslims conquered all of North Africa for Islam. Could there be a great reversal from Tunisia where all of North Africa becomes a land where Jesus is known and worshipped?

Key Scripture to Pray: "I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no saviour. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed — I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God. Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?" - Isaiah 43:11-13
Going Before the Father: Out of 10 million people, there might be 1,000 Tunisians that are following the Lord Jesus (.001% of the population). Pray that this small group of people would feel the power and presence of the Lord Jesus in all they do.
May the Lord Jesus bring a great reversal to this land. May the name of the Lord be known and worshipped across Tunisia and then to other lands in North Africa. Allow the LORD’s words from Isaiah above to fill your prayers.
There are still many areas in Tunisia that have no physical witness of Jesus--there are no believers living in them. However there are TV and radio programs the people can hear. Pray that many people in these remote areas would listen to His words.
